13/02/2014 - Beginning of pre-enrollment for all graduate courses for foreign students at universities and AFAM institutions for the academic year 2014/2015, and the bringing forward of the dates for tests and admission exams for graduate courses with nationally predisposed admission numbers

Date:

13/02/2014 - Beginning of pre-enrollment for all graduate courses for foreign students at universities and AFAM institutions for the academic year 2014/2015, and the bringing forward of the dates for tests and admission exams for graduate courses with nationally predisposed admission numbers

We inform that the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) has published on-line the decree n.85 from February 5, 2014, with its attachments. For the academic year 2014/2015, this decree brings forward the dates and sets the procedures and contents of the admission exams for graduate courses with nationally predisposed admission numbers in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, Veterinary Medicine and Architecture. The text and time-table for the exams for these courses is accessible at the following link UniversItaly.

The main innovation is that this year, MIUR has brought forward the dates of the exams at Italian universities for the above mentioned graduate courses with nationally predisposed admission numbers, and IMAT (International Medical Admission Test) tests in English.

Graduate courses with nationally predisposed admission numbers whose language tests and admission exams will be held in April

-      From February 12 to March 11, at the portal www.universitaly.it, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) will open the compulsory procedures for registration and enrolment to the admission tests, both at the expense of the candidate;

-
On April 7, 2014, Italian language tests will be held at Italian universities; candidates holding a certification of language proficiency according to MIUR regulations (in part.1, p. I.10) which exonerate them from the test on the basis of existing regulation, will have to prove to the academic institution their right for exemption from the language proficiency test before the above date, by showing the legal certificates they possess. An announcement in this respect will be published by MIUR on the Universitaly portal.

-      From 8 to 10 April, 2014 admission tests will be held for the respective courses, according to the published time table.

-      On April 29, 2014 IMAT (International Medical Admission Test) will be held for the Medicine and Surgery courses in English. For this test, MIUR this year will again use the agreement signed with the Cambridge Assessment Group, thanks to which foreign students wishing to enroll in one of the universities that provide medicine courses in English will be able to take the admission exam both in Italian universities and in foreign locations. Procedures, contents of the admission test and the number of places available for these courses in English will be determined by a future decree to be published shortly by MIUR in the institutional web sites.

Issuance of visas necessary for the April tests

For students who will have to take the April tests, it will be possible to issue short-term Schengen visas. To this end, applicants must present:

-      A copy of their registration at the Universitaly site (this in an indispensible requirement from all foreign candidates, independently from the visa requirement);

-      A certificate of attendance in loco regarding the final year of high school;

-      The usual documentation required for short-term visas.

Pre-enrolment to all graduate courses for the academic year 2014/2015

As in the past, for the academic year 2014/2015, the pre-enrolment will take place from March 24 to June 30, 2014 for all graduate courses, with both predisposed admission numbers and not, run by universities and AFAM institutions.

This period will, on the one hand, enable an enhanced promotion of the various training possibilities offered by our universities, and on the other allow a longer pre-enrolment period (three months), optimizing the gathering of applications. The pre-enrolment phase will then have an autonomous process of dates, compulsory as usual for all students.
