Booking appointments with the Consular Chancery (Download PDF)
Appointments with the Consular Chancery can only be arranged on-line. No appointment will be arranged on the phone or via e-mail.
To schedule a meeting it is necessary to specify the type of consular service requested choosing among the following:
Passports and Registry of Italians Residing Abroad (A.I.R.E.)
Passports ► Only A.I.R.E.-registered Italian citizens can select this option to apply for a passport. For more information and to download the necessary forms, please visit Consular Services.
A.I.R.E. ► Italian citizens who intend to transfer their residence to Israel for more than one year must submit the appropriate declaration to the Consular Office within 90 days from the date of arrival in the country to register in the Registry of Italians Residing abroad (A.I.R.E.). Registration in A.I.R.E. is required in order to receive a range of services, including to obtain an Italian passport, and to exercise the right to vote abroad. Legalizations
Legalization makes documents originating in other countries valid in Italy. Select this option to access to services such as formal legalization of acts, authentication of signatures, authentication of copies of documents based on originals, or of translations (from Hebrew to Italian only). Notary services
Select this option to require notary services, such as receipt of public acts (powers of attorney, wills), attested affidavit, authentications of signatures affixed to private documents. These services are guaranteed only to Italian citizens and the related documents are drawn up only in Italian. Citizenship by descent
The descendants of Italian citizens can select this option to start the procedure leading to the recognition of Italian citizenship by providing documents proving their descent from Italian citizens. For more information and the necessary forms please visit Consular Services.
Please note it is not possible to select this option to apply for a passport.
Citizenship by marriage
Select this option to start the procedure leading to recognition of Italian citizenship acquired by marriage with an Italian citizen. For more information and the necessary forms please visit Consular Services.
Pensions and Social Security
Select this option to apply for access to social services provided by Italy to its citizens, such as retirement pensions, ordinary disability benefits, ordinary disability pensions, survivor's pensions, social pensions, annuity checks of merit for victims of political and racial discriminations, self-certifications within the field of social security. Visas
Select this option to apply for an entry visa. Israeli citizens do not require visas for short visits for study, business or study lasting up to 90 days every six months. In other cases (study, work, etc.) it is necessary to obtain an entry visa by submitting an application form and the documentation mentioned in the Consular Services section of this website.
Personal fiscal code (codice fiscale) and driving license
Fiscal code ► Select this option to require the personal fiscal code (Codice Fiscale), which is issued to all Italian citizens or foreigners who intend to carry out economic activities in Italy. For more information and the necessary form please the various modules please visit Consular Services.
Driving licence ► Select this option to request the extension of the validity of an Italian driving license, which is possible for Italian citizens registered in the Registry of Italians Residing Abroad (A.I.R.E.), whose license has been expired for less than three years. Please note
- For services in great demand, there might be a waiting list of two months or more. The Embassy is aware of users' difficulties in arranging appointments with the Consular Chancery through the on-line procedure. Although the on-line system is fully functional, the high number of appointment requests fill up the available slots very quickly. However, new slots are opened every day and they are only assigned via the on-line procedure. Users are encouraged to try several times. Appointments cannot be arranged on the phone or via e-mal.
- A new meeting must be booked for each consular service. The Embassy's staff will not assist for services and beneficiaries different from the booked ones.
- Applicants are kindly requested to arrive at the Consular Chancery at least 20 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment to allow for identification by the Embassy's security staff. Latecomers will not be received and they will be requested to book a new appointment on-line.
- All relevant supporting documentation must be provided during the meeting. Please visit Consular Services to check what documents are needed for each specific consular service. In case of lack of documentation it will not be possible to provide the requested service and the user will have to book a new appointment on-line.
- The on-line appointment booking system allows for cancellations. Please cancel your appointment if it is not needed to avoid causing unnecessary delays to other users.
